New digital road signs and traffic monitoring cameras installed in Cyprus
Cypriot authorities have initiated a project to install digital road signage and traffic monitoring cameras to improve road management. A total of 20 smart electronic boards have been installed in Nicosia, Limassol, and Paphos to provide real-time updates on weather conditions, roadwork, and congestion. An additional 20 large signs are positioned at major roundabouts and highway junctions connecting the main cities and Larnaca Airport. These boards are linked directly to the traffic control center to help drivers optimize their routes. Additionally, transport engineer Cleopatra Fedonos confirmed the installation of 74 new traffic monitoring cameras in and around the capital. These cameras will track traffic density, vehicle speed, and vehicle classification. The collected data is intended solely for transport planning and statistical analysis. All 74 monitoring cameras are scheduled to become operational by the end of June.
