Parliamentary plenary session to approve committee composition and leadership

The plenary session of the Parliament convenes to formally approve the composition of 16 parliamentary committees and elect members to the Special Parliamentary Committee on Ethics. Each committee will consist of 12 members. The Selection Committee has allocated committee chairmanships based on party representation. The DISY and AKEL parties will each hold five chairmanships, while ELAM and DIKO will hold three each. DISY takes charge of the Foreign Affairs, Commerce, Health, Legal, and Institutional Affairs committees. AKEL assumes leadership of the Interior, Labor, Agriculture, Refugees, and Human Rights committees. ELAM takes over the Defense, Environment, and Transport committees, while DIKO retains the Finance, Education, and Oversight committees. Parliament expects to address critical issues including pension reform, the housing crisis, cost-of-living support, and migration by mid-July.
