Investigation continues for missing Bangladeshi student in Cyprus

Shahruar Ahmed Emon, a 22-year-old student from Bangladesh, has been reported missing since June 12 after leaving his residence in Oroklini. The student told housemates he was heading to a factory in Kofinou for his first day of work, and police later traced his last mobile signal to that area. That evening, Emon sent his location to a friend and messaged his father seeking help before contact ceased. His father subsequently received calls and messages from unknown individuals demanding ransom payments, including specific requests for €10,000 and €25,000. Larnaca police are currently investigating the authenticity of these ransom messages and other multimedia files linked to the case. Investigators have also checked transit records to determine if Emon left the Republic of Cyprus, though no official travel entries were found. Authorities are exploring all scenarios, including kidnapping or a staged disappearance, and are reviewing bus routes and CCTV footage to trace his movements.
