Larnaca police find body of missing 22-year-old student

Police in Larnaca have discovered the body of a 22-year-old man, believed to be Shahruar Ahmed Emon, a student from Bangladesh who had been missing since June 12, 2026. The discovery occurred after a 22-year-old suspect was arrested and confessed to the kidnapping during police questioning. The suspect led investigators to an open area near the Kofinou slaughterhouse, where the body was found in a state of advanced decomposition, reportedly concealed in grass. Authorities also recovered a knife at the scene, which the suspect identified as the murder weapon. The victim had been reported missing after failing to arrive at his first day of work. Prior to the discovery of the body, kidnappers had demanded 35,000 euros from the victim's father, who resides in Greece, sending threatening messages and audio files claiming they would remove the victim's kidney if payment was not made. Forensic experts and investigators are currently processing the scene to confirm the identity and the exact circumstances of death.
