Ongoing investigation into the disappearance of a 22-year-old student in Larnaca

On June 12, 22-year-old Bangladeshi student Sahruar Ahmed Emon went missing in Larnaca, Cyprus, after leaving his home in Oroklini to travel to a factory in the Kofinou area for his first day of work. Police traced his last mobile phone signal to Kofinou, though subsequent searches there yielded no results. The student's father, who resides abroad, reportedly received messages from unknown individuals claiming to have kidnapped his son and demanding ransoms of 10,000 euros for Sunday and 25,000 euros for Monday. The threats included graphic warnings of physical harm, including the removal of an organ, should the family fail to pay or alert authorities. Local police have confirmed they are in possession of these messages and other multimedia files, all of which are currently undergoing authenticity verification. Investigators are reviewing bus routes and CCTV footage to trace his movements and are also considering the possibility of a staged kidnapping. No definitive leads have been established, and authorities continue to interview acquaintances while coordinating with the student's home country.
