Ministry of Interior proposes new regulations for swimming pools

The Ministry of Interior has released a draft bill and new regulations for public and private swimming pools for public consultation until July 6. The proposed framework aims to clarify existing rules, simplify licensing procedures, and update technical requirements, including water filtration standards. Under the new rules, operating licenses will be valid for three years and subject to renewal every three years. The term 'swimming pool' is redefined to include facilities that received or applied for planning or building permits before the new law takes effect. Owners must now provide a certificate of electrical safety issued by the Department of Electrical and Mechanical Services. Managers are held responsible for the facility's operation, and if the position becomes vacant, a new manager must be appointed within two months. Failure to appoint a successor within this timeframe will result in the automatic suspension of the operating license.
