13th annual Public Book Awards held in Athens

The 13th Public Book Awards took place on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall of the Megaron Concert Hall in Athens. The event honored winners across thirteen categories in the presence of over 300 industry professionals, including authors, publishers, translators, and illustrators. Dimitra Papadopoulou and Stavros Svigos served as the presenters for the awards ceremony. Prior to the main event, the Olympia Dialogues featured a discussion moderated by Apostolos Mangiriadis. The session included a conversation between Andreas Athanasopoulos, CEO of the Olympia Group, and British historian Sir Roderick Beaton. The discussion explored Beaton's relationship with Greece, the evolution of the Greek language, and the impact of cultural transitions on historical memory. Sir Roderick Beaton, a four-time Runciman Award winner and knighted by King Charles III, spoke about his initial visit to Greece at the age of thirteen.
