China discusses US-Iran framework agreement with regional partners
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held telephone conversations with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi and Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar regarding the recently reached US-Iran framework agreement. Wang emphasized the necessity for all parties to honor their commitments and avoid external interference to ensure the success of the process. While acknowledging the completion of the first phase, Wang warned that the subsequent stage of negotiations will be more challenging. He stated that the current consensus is a starting point rather than a final goal and must not regress to the use of force. Wang also urged the United Nations Security Council to play a more significant role in the ongoing diplomatic efforts. He expressed China's willingness to coordinate with Pakistan to promote stability in the Middle East and the Gulf region. Reports from Switzerland suggest the final agreement is scheduled to be signed this Friday in Buergenstock.
