Spanish artist creates conceptual device to address space militarization
A Spanish artist is currently in residence at the NeMe Arts Centre to discuss the implications of space privatization and militarization. The artist has developed a conceptual device capable of both cleaning space debris and sabotaging satellites. This project serves as a platform to examine invisible surveillance infrastructure and information control. The artist, who grew up in rural Spain, developed an early interest in mechanics through his father's workshop before studying art in Spain and Austria. His academic background includes a Master's in Visual Arts and Multimedia from Valencia and a Master's in Interface Cultures from Linz. He cites philosophers like Gilbert Simondon and Lewis Mumford as major influences on his critical perspective regarding technology. The residency aims to promote art as a tool for fostering public discourse on modern technological challenges.
