Eurostat data on 2025 EU GDP per capita and Cyprus economic performance
Eurostat published data on Wednesday showing significant variations in GDP per capita across the EU in 2025. Luxembourg and Ireland reported the highest levels, at 139% and 138% above the EU average, respectively. Conversely, Bulgaria and Greece recorded the lowest levels, at 32% below the EU average. Cyprus reached 98% of the EU average in 2025, compared to 99% in 2024. Despite this slight annual decrease, Cyprus has shown consistent growth over the last decade, rising from 81% in 2015 to 98% in 2025. Other countries such as Romania, Croatia, Lithuania, and Poland also demonstrated an upward trend during this period. Meanwhile, several high-income nations including Sweden, Germany, and France have seen their figures move closer to the EU average. The data also highlighted that Actual Individual Consumption (AIC) across EU countries ranged from 73% to 145% of the average.
