Staff at social services office in Agioi Anargyroi protest following vehicle vandalism
On Thursday, a man used an iron crowbar to damage the windows of five employee vehicles parked at the Social Welfare Services office in Agioi Anargyroi. The suspect has reportedly been arrested. The Pancyprian Trade Union ISOTITA stated that this incident is not isolated, noting that staff have faced years of threats, intimidation, and violence across various offices. The union claims that promised security measures have remained unimplemented or incomplete despite previous commitments from authorities. Following the incident, employees announced a two-hour work stoppage to protest the ongoing lack of safety. The union provided photographic and video evidence of the damage while emphasizing the potential risk to staff, citizens, and security guards. The organization is demanding the immediate implementation of effective safety protocols at all social service locations.
