Inflation trends in the euro area and Cyprus for May 2026

In May 2026, the annual inflation rate in the euro area rose to 3.2 percent, up from 3.0 percent in April, while the European Union average reached 3.3 percent. Cyprus recorded a 3.5 percent year-on-year inflation rate, alongside a monthly increase of 0.7 to 0.8 percent according to different statistical trackers. Sweden recorded the lowest annual inflation in the EU at 1.1 percent, while Romania reached the highest at 9.7 percent.
