Fatal collision follows car theft in Nicosia

On the afternoon of June 17, a 27-year-old Syrian national allegedly entered a vehicle dealership in Nicosia, where an incident occurred. Following this, the man stole a vehicle and drove to central Nicosia. Near Solomou Square on Evagorou Avenue, he crashed the stolen vehicle into a concrete barrier. Although he was initially conscious and exhibited unusual behavior, emergency services transported him to Nicosia General Hospital. The man was admitted to the intensive care unit where he suffered from respiratory failure and shock. He passed away in the early hours of June 18. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, and a mandatory post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
