Medochemie becomes sole European supplier of Praziquantel 600mg tablets

Cypriot pharmaceutical company Medochemie Limited has become the only EU-authorized supplier of Praziquantel 600mg tablets following the discontinuation of the product by the originator manufacturer. This discontinuation caused a widespread shortage across the European Union. Medochemie has stepped in to produce and distribute the drug to all 27 EU member states to address this supply gap. The company successfully delivered its first shipment to Greece this week to meet patient demand projected for 2026. Future shipments to other EU member states are planned, pending the completion of necessary import permit arrangements. Praziquantel is a WHO-listed essential medicine used for treating trematode infections, including various types of schistosomiasis and liver or lung flukes. The drug is recognized for its broad-spectrum efficacy and safety profile in human medicine.
