Nicosia Mayor announces urban redevelopment projects for State Fair grounds and SOPAZ site

Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prountzos presented two major development projects aimed at transforming the capital. The first initiative involves creating a metropolitan park at the former State Fair grounds, which is intended to serve as a significant green space. The municipal authorities have reached a consensus with the government and relevant stakeholders, with public consultation, a master plan, and an architectural competition planned as next steps. The second project concerns the redevelopment of the SOPAZ site, which is described as a large-scale intervention for the city. A feasibility study estimates the potential economic activity generated by the SOPAZ project to be approximately 500 million euros. The development plan for this site includes the construction of an exhibition and conference center. These projects are expected to enhance residential, business, and investment opportunities in Eastern Nicosia. The Mayor emphasized that these developments represent key milestones for the capital's growth.
