United States and Iran sign memorandum of understanding to end conflict
The United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday aimed at ending their ongoing conflict. On Thursday, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei addressed the agreement through posts on the platform X. Khamenei stated that he personally held reservations about the deal on principle but agreed to it following assurances from President Pezeshkian and other officials regarding the protection of Iranian interests. He characterized the U.S. President's efforts to finalize the agreement as driven by desperation and the use of various pressures. Both American and Iranian leaderships are currently framing the outcome as a personal success and a victory for their respective sides. Future negotiations are planned to be conducted in person. Khamenei confirmed that Iran intends to uphold the terms of the signed memorandum.
