Regional aviation issues and digital strategy discussed during Cyprus presidency events

During the 2026 European Innovation Council Summit in Brussels, the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) emphasized that EU aviation policies must reflect the challenges of island regions. Additionally, the Statistical Service of Cyprus reported that tourist arrivals in May 2026 totaled approximately 455,000. This figure represents a 4.9 percent decrease compared to May 2025, but an 8.1 percent increase over May 2024. Cumulative arrivals for the first five months of 2026 show a growth of 13.3 percent.
