Ukraine launches major drone strikes across Russian regions
Ukraine conducted a widespread overnight drone offensive targeting industrial and energy infrastructure across multiple Russian regions, including Tula, Belgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, and occupied Crimea. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported the destruction of over 300 drones, while other reports indicated figures as high as 660. The Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk and the NORSI refinery were among the targeted industrial sites, resulting in operational disruptions and power outages in Sevastopol. Local authorities confirmed three civilian deaths across Belgorod and Nizhny Novgorod, along with several injuries and damage to residential buildings. These strikes are part of an ongoing Ukrainian strategy to undermine Russian war funding and economic stability by targeting oil, chemical, and energy facilities. Governor Dmitry Milyayev and local officials noted that debris caused additional fires and infrastructure damage in the Tula and Krasnodar regions. While Moscow emphasizes its defense capabilities, industry sources suggest the impact on fuel production and distribution remains significant.
