Prosecutor seeks conviction in the 2017 death of Marios Souloukos
The trial regarding the death of 11-year-old Marios Souloukos has reached its closing stages at the Mixed Jury Court. Marios was a fifth-grade student who died after being struck by a stray bullet in June 2017 at the 6th Primary School of Acharnes in Menidi. The incident occurred during a school celebration while the boy was waiting for a theatrical performance to begin. Following the injury, he was transported to the Agia Sofia Children's Hospital, where he later died from a head wound. During the proceedings, prosecutor Antonios Kasapis formally requested that the court find the primary defendant guilty of intentional homicide. Conversely, the prosecutor recommended the acquittal of the second defendant. The trial saw tension arise when witness statements questioning the occurrence of gunfire in the area were contested.
