International calls for Israel to respect US-Iran ceasefire agreement

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot has called on Israel to respect the ceasefire agreement signed last Wednesday between the United States and Iran, which includes the cessation of hostilities in Lebanon. The agreement was finalized in Versailles and is intended to de-escalate regional tensions, with support from mediators including Pakistan and Qatar, as confirmed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Despite the agreement, recent Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon resulted in 18 deaths and 33 injuries, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health. Israel reported the deaths of four of its soldiers in the region, including a high-ranking officer. While planned technical talks scheduled for today in Switzerland have been delayed, French officials maintain that the diplomatic process must proceed. Russia emphasized that all parties, including Israel, are obligated to adhere to the protocol. The international community is urging the United States to exert pressure on the Israeli government to ensure compliance with the terms of the deal.
