17th Iris Awards results announced in Greece
The 17th Iris Awards ceremony of the Hellenic Film Academy took place in June 2026, honoring the best of Greek cinema. The film 'Poly Koritsistiko Onoma to Patty', directed by Giorgos Georgopoulos, was the main winner, securing seven awards including Best Fiction Feature Film, Direction, Screenplay, Editing, Sound, Original Music, and Best Supporting Actress. The film 'Ta Kalanda ton Christougennon', directed by Christos Kanakis, received three technical awards for Production Design, Costume Design, and Makeup, Hair, and Special Effects. 'Ta Kalanda ton Christougennon' was also recognized as a significant 2025 commercial success with over 470,000 admissions. 'Spasmeni Fleva' by Yiannis Economides, which had 12 nominations, won only one award for Best Supporting Actress, shared by Betty Arvaniti and Gioula Boudali. Additionally, the film 'Maricel' by Elias Demetriou was awarded Best Greek Minority Co-production. Producers Tasos Papanastassiou and Marinos Charalambous were credited for the production of the Kanakis film.
