Cyprus defence minister attends Eurosatory 2026 exhibition
Cypriot Minister of Defence Vasilis Palmas participated in the Eurosatory 2026 defence exhibition held in Paris. During the event, which concluded this week, Palmas stated that the domestic defence industry has shown significant growth in its participation over time. He emphasized that the sector now possesses the technical capability to manufacture equipment directly for the National Guard. Beyond military benefits, the government aims to leverage this industry to contribute to the national gross domestic product. A core component of the current government policy is the promotion of formal partnerships between Cypriot defence firms and foreign companies. These collaborations are intended to provide the necessary momentum for the expansion and sustainability of local businesses. Palmas noted that the state is actively working to create optimal conditions for these joint ventures to thrive in international markets.
