34-year-old man arrested for extortion of a minor in Volos
A 34-year-old man from Volos has been arrested by the Hellenic Police on charges of extorting 370,000 euros from a 13-year-old boy. The investigation revealed that the incident began when the victim, the son of a wealthy businessman, provided fireworks to a friend. The friend claimed he gave them to the 34-year-old suspect, subsequently threatening the victim and his parents with legal repercussions unless they paid money. The blackmail lasted for approximately 50 days, during which the victim delivered the funds in installments. Four additional minors are also suspected of involvement in the extortion scheme. The victims' parents discovered the missing funds and filed a formal complaint with the police. Authorities tracked the suspect after noting suspicious purchases, including several motorcycles and a BMW. The case remains under active investigation.
