Two British nationals arrested following violent brawl in Ayia Napa
Cypriot police have arrested two British nationals in connection with a violent brawl that occurred in the resort town of Ayia Napa. The incident, involving approximately six individuals, was captured on video by a bystander and circulated widely on social media. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the fight and searching for other participants. This incident follows another recent altercation in the area involving Israeli nationals. Ayia Napa mayor Christos Zannetou has condemned both events and formally requested an increase in police presence for preventive measures. Police spokesman Vyron Vyronos confirmed that headquarters had already planned to bolster patrols in the resort area. Mayor Zannetou noted that regional geopolitical tensions have led to lower tourism costs, resulting in a higher influx of young visitors to the town. Investigations into the events remain ongoing as police analyze additional witness testimony and footage.
