Cyprus police conduct multiple drug seizures and arrests
Cyprus police have reported a series of significant drug seizures and arrests across the country. In the Famagusta district, a 37-year-old man was arrested in connection with the discovery of 6.373 kilograms of cannabis resin and one kilogram of synthetic cannabis known as kief, bringing the total number of suspects in that case to three. In a separate operation in Nicosia, a 35-year-old man already in custody for a previous case involving over 10 kilograms of opiates was arrested again after one kilogram of poppy pods was found in a postal package addressed to him. Furthermore, in Limassol, a 30-year-old man was arrested after authorities discovered eight kilograms of dried poppy pods hidden inside a postal package at a courier company. Reports indicate that over 30 kilograms of such substances have been seized in recent days across Nicosia and Limassol, leading to the arrest of seven individuals. The Anti-Narcotics Service (YKAN) is actively investigating these cases, including the origin and destination of the narcotics. Courts are currently processing detention orders for the suspects while investigators work to determine their specific roles.
