43-year-old tenant confesses to the murder of Stavroula Leventaki in Chania

The body of 45-year-old Stavroula Leventaki was discovered buried in a field in Vatolakkos, Chania, following a confession by her 43-year-old tenant. The victim, who had been missing since May 30, was found bound with tape and zip ties, wrapped in bags. Forensic evidence suggests she suffered a blow to the head with a metal object and a stab wound to her chest. Although the suspect initially denied involvement, claiming he was being threatened, he eventually led authorities to the burial site near his property. The perpetrator alleged that the killing was not premeditated but resulted from a heated argument regarding property damages. Police had previously identified blood traces belonging to the victim inside the suspect's home and his vehicle. The suspect is expected to face charges of homicide as the investigation continues.
