Cyprus Football Association hosts event for refugee children

On June 16, the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) organized a football event at the Sotirio Athletic Center in Kofinou for refugee children and unaccompanied minors. The event was held in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to mark World Refugee Day, observed on June 20. Participants included children residing at the Kofinou reception center and minors from the IOM's semi-independent living program. Activities included football training sessions, team games, and recreational events. This celebration marked the conclusion of a year-long integration project during which children received coaching from CFA trainers. The program aimed to foster social inclusion and friendship through sports. The event concluded with a formal medal presentation ceremony featuring representatives from all involved organizations.
