Curacao sets Guinness world record as smallest country in FIFA World Cup history

Curacao has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the country with the smallest population to ever participate in a FIFA World Cup final tournament. The Caribbean island nation, which is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, has a population of 156,115 residents. Football Federation President Gilbert Martina received the official certificate to mark the achievement. The national team is currently participating in the World Cup hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. In their opening match of the tournament, the team suffered a 7-1 defeat against Germany. Despite the loss, the country's qualification remains a historic milestone. The tournament serves as a global platform for the team to represent the small island territory on the international stage.
