Pedro Marques transfer to Neftchi Baku collapses
Portuguese striker Pedro Marques is currently a free agent after his negotiations with Neftchi Baku reached an impasse on June 20, 2026. Despite advanced talks between the player and the Azerbaijani club, the deal failed due to disagreements regarding financial terms. Marques previously departed Apollon Limassol upon the conclusion of his contract. According to Apollon's press officer, Fanourios Konstantinou, the Cypriot club had offered him a three-year contract extension with a 40% salary increase, but the player did not respond. The 27-year-old forward is now evaluating his future options, with a potential return to Cyprus remaining a possibility. Azerbaijani journalist Fuad Alakbarov confirmed that the high wage demands were the primary obstacle in the failed transfer to Baku.
