Cyprus bathing water quality results and Paphos Blue Flag awards

According to the European Environment Agency, 100% of bathing waters in Cyprus were rated as excellent based on 1,198 samples collected between 2022 and 2025. This result aligns with the EU Bathing Water Directive and places Cyprus among the leading countries in Europe, where 85% of waters achieved an excellent rating. Concurrently, the municipality of Paphos held a ceremony to mark the raising of Blue Flags at seven local beaches. The event included artistic performances and honored local officials, including Andreas Grigoriadis, Efkleidis Ambrosiadis, and Andreas Nikolaou, for their efforts in maintaining beach infrastructure. Staff members were also recognized for their role in the daily maintenance and cleanliness of these coastal areas. The Blue Flag certification serves as a commitment to maintaining high standards of environmental protection and public safety. These findings collectively highlight the regional commitment to high coastal and environmental quality.
