Fire contained at illegal landfill in Kalo Chorio, Larnaca

A fire started at 13:20 at the Melissia site in Kalo Chorio, Larnaca district, due to the illegal burning of garbage. The Forestry Department and the Fire Service responded immediately to the scene. The blaze was successfully brought under control by 13:50. It resulted in the burning of two decares of dry grass and waste. The suppression operation involved six members of the Forestry Department with two vehicles and five members of the Fire Service with two vehicles. Additionally, two volunteers supported the efforts with one small fire truck. Forestry Department units remained on-site to monitor the area and prevent potential reignition.
