Vangelis Pavlidis remains at Benfica despite Besiktas transfer attempts
Greek striker Vangelis Pavlidis will remain with Benfica after the Portuguese club rejected multiple offers from Besiktas. The Turkish side reportedly increased their bids incrementally, starting at 20 million euros and allegedly reaching up to 50 million euros. Despite the significant financial interest, Benfica's management has confirmed the player will stay in Lisbon. Pavlidis, who is under contract until the summer of 2029, was acquired by Benfica in the summer of 2024 for 18 million euros. During the last season, the 27-year-old forward recorded 30 goals and 6 assists across 53 appearances. While some reports suggested Benfica might consider offers, the club's general director Mário Branco stated that the player is not for sale.
