Seven killed in double roadside bomb attack in northwest Pakistan
On Saturday, two separate roadside explosive devices killed seven people and injured three others in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. According to local police official Yasir Afridi, a private pickup truck was first targeted by a remote-controlled explosive device. A second blast occurred while the casualties were being transported to a hospital. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, although the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is known to operate in the border region. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack and pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice. Pakistan frequently accuses the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan of providing safe havens for TTP militants, a point of significant diplomatic tension. These tensions have escalated into military confrontations, including Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan. Recently, reported airstrikes by the Pakistani air force resulted in at least 12 deaths within Afghan territory.
