Bulgaria to receive nearly one billion euros under EU recovery plan
Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov announced that the country will receive nearly one billion euros as part of the fourth payment installment of the Recovery and Resilience Plan. This follows a positive evaluation from the European Commission, which confirmed that Bulgaria successfully met 23 out of the 26 required milestones. Pekanov stated that these funds are essential for the national budget and for the completion of key investment projects. However, Pekanov also cautioned that achieving a 3% budget deficit target by 2026 remains a significant challenge. He argued that strictly adhering to this target without adjustments could create excessive pressure on the economy. Such a policy might result in a potential economic slowdown. The official emphasized that balancing fiscal requirements with economic stability remains the primary concern for the Bulgarian government.
