Infrastructure upgrades underway in Larnaca district
The Larnaca District Local Government Organization (EOA) is currently implementing multiple infrastructure projects, including water network replacements, the creation of a 'green point' facility, and the installation of smart water meters. According to EOA President Angelos Chatzicharalampous, the organization has achieved cost savings through the operation of renewable energy sources. A tender is in its final stages for a project to replace the water network in Larnaca and Oroklini, estimated at approximately three million euros. The primary objectives of this project are to address high levels of unaccounted-for water and reduce leakage. Furthermore, the installation of 25,000 smart water meters is expected to be completed by the end of the month. This initiative aims to reduce water wastage by providing consumers with a platform to monitor usage and allowing the organization to detect unusual consumption patterns. Long-term goals involve expanding the smart meter program to cover all EOA Larnaca consumers.
