New village square and parking facility inaugurated in Gourri

On Sunday, a new village square and semi-underground car park were officially inaugurated in the Troodos mountain village of Gourri. The project cost €1.8 million and was co-financed through European and national funds. Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou represented President Nikos Christodoulides at the event, stating that the project aims to improve resident quality of life and attract visitors. The redevelopment incorporates modern accessibility and sustainability standards while preserving the village's traditional character. The government plans to host a farmers' market at the site to stimulate the local economy. Minister Ioannou also provided updates on other rural development projects, including the completed €1.5 million redevelopment in Farmakas and the upcoming €1.34 million regeneration in Ayios Epiphanios, scheduled for completion in September. Additionally, a €1.9 million project for Kampi is in the planning stages, alongside recently finished community buildings in Kalo Chorio and Klirou costing €405,000.
