Cyprus concludes performance at the 78th Balkan Athletics Championships in Volos
The 78th Balkan Athletics Championships for men and women took place at the Panthessaliko Stadium in Volos. The Cypriot delegation, consisting of 27 athletes, concluded the event with a total of four medals: one silver and three bronze. Milan Trajkovic secured the silver medal in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.70 seconds. Bronze medals were awarded to Iosif Kesidis in the hammer throw (76.56m), Philippa Fotopoulou in the long jump (6.54m), and Styliana Ioannidou in the high jump (1.84m). Cyprus ranked 17th among 22 participating nations, with 23 placements in the top eight across various events. Additionally, Greek athlete Miltos Tentoglou won gold in the long jump with an 8.36m leap. The Cypriot delegation aims to utilize these results as preparation for the upcoming European Championships in Birmingham.
