Oscar Garcia leaves Ajax following mutual agreement
On June 21, 2026, AFC Ajax officially announced the departure of head coach Oscar Garcia. The 53-year-old Spanish manager and the Dutch club mutually agreed to terminate his contract, which was originally set to expire in the summer of 2027. Garcia was initially appointed as the U21 coach in February 2026 before being promoted to the first team one month later. During his tenure with the senior squad, he managed ten matches, achieving a record of five wins, three draws, and two losses. Along with Garcia, his assistant, Enrique Sanz, is also departing the organization. The club decided to part ways with the coaching staff despite the contract remaining valid for another year. This decision follows a period of transition for the club, which had previously sought to address internal performance issues by promoting Garcia to the head position.
