Unsettled weather and high reservoir levels reported across Cyprus

Cyprus is experiencing a period of unstable weather marked by clouds, rain, and occasional thunderstorms due to a passing cyclone. According to Cleanthis Nicolaides of the Meteorological Service, cold air has replaced previous warm conditions, causing temperatures to drop 5-8 degrees below seasonal norms by April 21. Forecasts for the weekend of April 20-21 indicate rain, with snow expected in the Troodos mountains at elevations above 1,400-1,750 meters. Daytime temperatures vary, reaching 16-20 degrees Celsius in lowlands and 1-9 degrees in mountainous areas. Wind speeds are expected to fluctuate between 3 and 5 on the Beaufort scale. By Tuesday, temperatures are projected to normalize to 23-25 degrees. Meanwhile, water reservoirs remain at high capacity, with levels reported between 90.1% and 90.8%, containing approximately 262-263.9 million cubic meters of water. April 2019 has set a record for the highest volume of water inflow into dams for the month, reaching 17.6 million cubic meters.
