Explosion at Ras Laffan industrial site in Qatar results in casualties

On Sunday evening, an explosion occurred at the Barzan gas supply facility within the Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar. Qatar’s Interior Ministry officially reported 54 injuries and stated that 18 individuals are currently missing, despite earlier conflicting reports from some sources claiming no casualties. Emergency response teams were deployed to the site, and authorities have brought the fire under control. The blast was significant enough to be felt and cause tremors in central Doha, over 70 kilometers away. While the government characterized the incident as a technical accident, the facility remains a critical hub for global LNG production and local power generation.
