Cyprus presidency of the EU to conclude with a concert in Nicosia

The closing event of the cultural programme for the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026 will take place on June 30, 2026. The concert is scheduled for 20:30 at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre. Pianist Cyprien Katsaris will perform alongside the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the orchestra's new Artistic Director, Myron Michailidis. The programme will begin with 'Dawn on the Parthenon' by Solon Michaelides. This will be followed by two works by Franz Liszt: 'Fantasy on Themes from The Ruins of Athens' (originally by Ludwig van Beethoven) and the 'Hungarian Fantasy' for piano and orchestra. The event highlights the international artistic career of Cyprien Katsaris and marks the official end of the presidency's cultural activities.
