Authorities solve the murder of Stavroula Leventaki in Chania
Greek police have solved the murder of 45-year-old Stavroula Leventaki in Chania following the confession of a 43-year-old tenant. Police spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou stated that investigators suspected criminal activity from the beginning, despite the delayed missing persons report caused by the victim's brother's hospitalization. The investigation involved home searches and the assistance of forensics experts from Athens. Crucial evidence included blood traces found inside both the victim's residence and the suspect's vehicle. Furthermore, authorities recovered surveillance footage that the suspect had attempted to delete. This footage showed the victim entering the house on the day of her disappearance without leaving. Dimoglidou noted that the investigation was conducted quietly to allow the perpetrator to make mistakes, ultimately leading to his arrest and confession.
