Parliamentary committee on human rights to discuss digital rights

The Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Equal Opportunities for Men and Women held its inaugural meeting, which focused on procedural matters. Committee Chairman Christos Christofides, a member of AKEL, announced that substantive work will commence next Monday. The committee's first major agenda item will be the study of digital human rights in the modern era. Christofides stated that the committee intends to move beyond merely identifying problems and will focus on producing concrete solutions for human rights violations. He highlighted that digital rights are critical to modern human existence. The committee plans to look at existing European Union frameworks and legislative measures adopted by other European states regarding the regulation of digital rights for both public and private sectors.
