DISY president meets SEK leadership to discuss pension reform

The President of the Democratic Rally (DISY), Annita Dimitriou, met with the leadership of the Cyprus Workers' Confederation (SEK) to discuss the national pension system. Both parties identified the increase of low and middle-range pensions as a priority goal while maintaining work incentives. Dimitriou emphasized that the reform must be comprehensive and include the second pillar of the pension system to ensure adequacy and dignified living for retirees. She stressed that the issue is a top priority for DISY and requires a detailed, unified plan. Andreas Matsas, representing SEK, stated that the trade union movement supports a holistic design for pension reform. He noted that even if different parameters require different timelines for implementation, the reform cannot be approached in a fragmented manner. The discussion also addressed the need for a fair system based on contributions.
