Pavlos Kontides wins silver at Ireland regatta
Cypriot sailor Pavlos Kontides secured the silver medal at a preparation regatta held in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland. Kontides, the current world number one in the ILCA7 class, finished with 45 penalty points after nine races. The gold medal went to British sailor Eliot Hanson with 39 points, while Croatian sailor Tonci Stipanovic placed third with 49 points. The competition featured athletes from several countries, including Great Britain, Australia, Croatia, Hungary, New Zealand, and the United States. Kontides' performance included four second-place finishes and two third-place finishes. This event served as a preparation for the upcoming World Championship scheduled to take place in the same location in late August. Before the championships, the sailor plans to return to Cyprus for a brief rest before attending a training camp in Los Angeles.
