Piraeus municipal council approves stadium redevelopment proposal
On June 22, the Piraeus Municipal Council unanimously approved the redevelopment plans for the Georgios Karaiskakis stadium. Representatives and architects for Olympiacos FC presented the project, which aims to increase the stadium's height and total capacity to over 50,000 seats. The proposal includes a request for a modification of building height limits and mandates compatibility with the upcoming Special Urban Plan for the Faliro Bay area. Olympiacos FC stated that the project will be entirely funded by the club, with an estimated minimum cost of 250 million euros. The club emphasized that the investment will not rely on state budget funds or taxpayer money. The formal presentation of the project is scheduled to be conducted by Vangelis Marinakis in the coming days. The project is intended to modernize the stadium and contribute to the urban renewal of the surrounding region.
