Music industry executive Clive Davis dies at 94
Clive Davis, a prominent figure in the American music industry, has passed away at his home in New York at the age of 94. Born on April 4, 1932, in Brooklyn, Davis began his professional life as a lawyer before joining Columbia Records in the 1960s, eventually leading the company. Throughout his long career, he was credited with discovering and guiding iconic artists, including Whitney Houston, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen, Carlos Santana, and Alicia Keys. In 1973, he was dismissed from Columbia Records following allegations of misappropriation of company funds. Despite this, he remained influential, managing careers well into his later years and establishing the annual pre-Grammy gala. Recently, reports indicated he had been hospitalized for respiratory issues before his death. His passing was confirmed by his family and his publicist, Aliza Rabinoff, who noted his significant contribution to the modern music landscape.
