Vandalism of monuments and public spaces reported in Larnaca
The Municipality of Larnaca has reported multiple acts of vandalism targeting local monuments and public areas. Unknown individuals threw paint on the statue of EOKA fighter Michalakis Parides, damaging the head and body of the monument. In a separate incident on Monday night, tiles were removed from a fountain in the Mesoyios Artists' Park. These events follow previous reports of damage to sculptures within the same park. The municipal authorities have officially condemned these actions as an affront to public property and local cultural heritage. Procedures have been initiated to investigate the incidents, and the municipality intends to file a formal complaint with the Cyprus Police. Officials are urging members of the public with any relevant information to contact the police to assist in identifying those responsible.
