Cypria Auctions summer sale highlights Cypriot art
Cypria Auctions held its summer sale featuring works by notable Cypriot artists. A painting by Loukia Nicolaidou-Vassiliou sold for €5,500, significantly exceeding its estimated range of €950–€1,500. The ceramic sculpture 'Suitcase' (1989) by Ioannis Antoniou reached a final price of €1,900, surpassing the expected estimate of €900–€1,500. Two works by Christoforos Savva were also sold; an untitled oil composition reached €1,600, while his 1960 mixed-media work 'Landscape' sold for €1,400 against an estimate of €450–€750. These results demonstrate continued market interest in twentieth-century Cypriot artists. The auction house noted that these performances reflect a strong collector demand for both major and intimate works by established Cypriot figures.
