Limassol hotel sector faces significant booking decline
Christos Tsanos, President of the Limassol Hoteliers Association, stated that the hotel industry in Limassol is experiencing a decline in bookings. Up until May 31, the region recorded a 30% drop in reservations compared to 2025. Following geopolitical de-escalation between Iran and the United States and the revision of travel advisories, the booking deficit narrowed to approximately 20% in June. Industry officials now look to last-minute bookings in July and domestic tourism in August to improve annual performance. Hotel occupancy, which averaged 80% last year, is currently projected to reach only 60-65% for the year. Tsanos noted that the summer season alone cannot sustain the annual viability of the industry. He further called on the government to provide practical support and highlighted the challenge of labor shortages and recruitment processes for maintaining service quality for luxury-tier tourists.
